Well, I'm not really the kind of guy that likes to talk about his day and share his heart.  How about this?  I hate chemistry.  Today I worked, got my hair cut, went to school and then I'm off to do laundry at poker night.

My favorite verse?  Probably 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: Rejoice always; pray continuously; and give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Rejoice always- really, what do we have to be depressed about as Christians?  I'm not saying I never get sad, but to think that I have eternal life and forgiveness of my sins, sadness just doesn't last.  We need to take joy in our salvation everyday; happiness can come and go, but our joy will always be in our hearts.

Pray continuously- When I first became a Christian I was constantly praying: for my relationship with Him, my future, my family and pretty much anything else that came to mind.  All throughout the day we should keep someone in our prayers, remember what He did for us and just talk to Him; He is our best friend.  This I struggle with, but it makes a difference in your spiritual walk if your consistent.

Give thanks in all circumstances- Not just the good ones, but especially the bad ones.  The rough times are when we need to thank God the most, because that is the time He is usually growing us the most.  He uses those times to discipline us, teach us and test us.  James points out in James 1 that "the testing of our faith brings about perseverance so that we may become mature and complete not lacking anything".  And he says to rejoice in it!  If you don't like what is happening to you, just start thanking God for the bad things in your life (sincerely) and your attitude will begin to change.  Every difficulty becomes an opportunity to grow.

God's will for you in Christ Jesus- Too many people complicate God's will.  God's will is not "where should I go to church?", "what should my career be?", "who should I date?", blah, blah, blah.  Unfortunately too many people use God's will as an excuse to be indecisive.  As far as I've seen God's will has nothing to do with where you go to church, where you work, who you date or anything like that.  God's will is simple: to know Him and accept the free gift of salvation; that is God's will.

You wanna do God's will?  Remember what He did for you, talk to Him and thank Him.

ARE THERE DINOSAURS IN THE BIBLE?

Is the word ‘dinosaur’ in the Bible?  Nope.

Why not?  The King James Version was first translated in 1611.  Some people think that because the word ‘dinosaur’ is not found in this, or other translations, the Bible does not mention dinosaurs.  However, it was not until 1841 that the word ‘dinosaur’ was invented.  Sir Richard Owen, a famous British anatomist and first superintendent of the British museum (and a staunch anti-Darwinist), on viewing the bones of Iguanodon and Megalosaurus, realized these represented a unique group of reptiles that had not yet been classified.  He coined the term ‘dinosaur’ from Greek words meaning ‘terrible lizard.’

Thus, one would not expect to find the word ‘dinosaur’ in the King James Bible—the word did not exist when the translation was done.  Not to mention, becasue of compromising to evolution, most other translations do not even contain dragon anymore.

So what was a ‘dinosaur’ in the Bible?  The Hebrew word commonly translated ‘dragon’ in the KJV (Hebrew: tan, tannin, tannim, tannoth) appears in the Old Testament some 30 times.  There are passages in the Bible about ‘dragons’ that lived on the land.

Where is ‘dragon’ found in the Bible?  Deuteronomy 32:33; Nehemiah 2:13; Job 7:12; 30:29; Psalm 44:19; 74:13; 91:13; 148:7; Isaiah 13:22; 27:1; 34:13; 35:7; 43:20; 51:9; Jeremiah 9:11; 10:22; 14:6; 49:33; 51:34,37; Lament. 4:3; Ezekiel 29:3; 32:2; Micah 1:8; Malachi 1:3. (to name a few)

Only the King James Version and Young’s Literal Translation translate ‘dragon’ for the Hebrew word tannin.  Most other translations translate tannin as ‘jackal.’ (NIV, NASB, NKJV, etc.)

Are there any descriptions of dinosaurs in the Bible?  Yes, in Job 40:15-24 and Job 41.  In Job 40 God talks about the ‘behemoth’ and in Job 41 God talks about the ‘leviathan’.

What animal does the ‘behemoth’ sound like?  It sounds like a Sauropod (Brachiosurus, Supersaurus).  Most Bible commentaries say that the behemoth is probably a hippo or an elephant.  Tail like a cedar?

Artist's impression of man and sauropod (Steve Cardno)

do you think the behemoth would have looked like this?

OR like one of these?

What does the ‘leviathan’ sound like?  It sounds like dragon.  Most Bible commentaries say that the leviathan is probably a crocodile.  I don't know about you, but I've never heard of a crocodile that can breath fire!!

Other leviathans in the Bible:  Psalm 74:14; 104:26; Isaiah 27:1

So, did dinosaurs live with man?  They sure did, they would have been created on day 5 (sea monsters) and day 6 (land dinosaurs) of the creation week as described in Genesis 1:20-25.

Wouldn’t have T-rex eaten Adam and Eve?  Nope.  Becasue all animals  were originally vegetarians

Genesis 1:30 "and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food'; and it was so."

Any questions?

What do you say when someone asks the question:  If God can do anything, can He create a rock so big that not even He can lift it?  I have heard so many answers to this question.  One pastor even said, "God would create it and then he would move it."  That answer makes about as much sense as the question.

Unfortunately, many Christians aren't sure how to answer this.  But the answer is quite simple actually.  This is what you say: This is not a philosophical question, this is an illogical question.  You are assuming that gravity is greater than God, and God created gravity.  So how can something created (gravity) be greater than its creator (God)?  Completely illogical!

Colossians 1:16  For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

1Corinthians 1:20  Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Thank God!

Now that's funny!
